Tyrrell College is a Foundation to Year 12 government school, located in Sea Lake. The College offers a wide range of opportunities in an environment that encourages students to seek challenges and continue to learn and contribute beyond schooling.

The College is organised on the basis of the following sub-schools: Years F-6, Years 7-8, Years 9-10 and Years 11-12. Curriculum offered from Prep to Year 12 incorporates the eight learning areas with an emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and an integrated Personal Development program. Year Foundation to Year 10 course structures, assessment and reporting practices are modelled on the Victorian Curriculum, with Year 11 and 12 having the option of  VCE, VET or VCAL courses.

Student Leadership is a priority at Tyrrell College. We have a very active Student Representative Council and there are student representatives on School Council. Students organise and run many activities around the College ranging from Presentation Evening through to lunchtime games. The importance of being positive role models for other students is actively encouraged.

Students participate in an extensive range of cultural, academic and sporting activities including visiting performances, drama workshops, College productions, camps and excursions, public speaking and inter-college sports.

Set in landscaped grounds, the College is complemented by the adjoining Community Centre (catering for a variety of sporting and cultural activities), extensive computer facilities  well-resourced science, technology and music centres, and a community library.

Tyrrell College works as a member of the Tyrrell Cluster of primary schools which has been an active and effective cluster for many years. Sharing of curriculum resources and ideas, as well as joint course planning and documentation, has occurred over the years. The Cluster also runs combined camps and sporting events across the primary years.

The school also maintains close links with other Mallee secondary schools enabling it to provide a breadth of curriculum at VCE. Tyrrell College has implemented a well-developed and functioning VET program offering a broad range of subjects.

The College is committed to consultation, the principles of democratic management and forward planning. Open discussions on areas of policy reflect this commitment.

Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in all College activities, becoming partners with teachers in developing positive educational outcomes for their children. Tyrrell College aims to provide students with the opportunity to become independent, caring and community-minded citizens.
